As of May 15, 2009, the City of Boston has established new requirements for the cleanings of the commercial cooking hoods and ventilation systems. Kitchen Exhaust Fire Protection Co., Inc. is one of only a few companies in the Boston area who are certified as a qualified commercial cleaning company for cooking hoods and ventilation systems.  
 

Commercial cooking hoods and ventilation systems shall be inspected by a certified inspector/cleaner for grease buildup in accordance with the inspection schedule of NFPA-96.  
 

1. Kitchen Exhaust Systems shall be cleaned every six (6) months.
2. Char broilers Systems shall be cleaned every three (3) months.
3. Solid Fuel Systems shall be cleaned every one (1) month.

          These cleanings will include cleaning all bare metals, hoods, grease removal devices, fans, ducts, cooking equipment and other appurtenances.

Following these cleanings/inspections, Kitchen Exhaust Fire Protection Co., Inc. will place or display within the kitchen area, a label indicating the service date, company name and the Boston Fire Department registration number.  
 

In addition to any requirements outlined in NFPA-96, if any required cleanings or inspections are incomplete or unable to be performed for any reason, a written letter with be submitted to the Boston Fire Department within five (5) days.
